Mickleover Exhibition Oct 2011 Review

The exhibition was a great success. Turnout I believe was possibly a little down on previous years but this was to be expected due to the extremely "good" weather we have been experiencing (for the record - October 1st 2011 in the UK was the hottest day on record for October!). So I suppose it wasn't too bad considering. Most people I spoke to whilst helping out at the show (running Neverwhere and other things) seemed to have enjoyed looking round. On the upside, it was obviously slightly less crowded for some people's liking! I think most people thought the standard of layouts and other modelling stands + trade stands was of a very high standard. Most layouts were running quite reliably including the club's new "run anything" layout which looked great (albeit in an unfinished state) and ran plenty of club members' stock throughout the two day period. Prize for best layout went to the club's 'O' gauge layout "Warner Street" which has been expertly and diligently restored by Oliver and Jack over the past few weeks.

Look out for the next Mickleover club exibition at a similar time next year and of course the main "Derby 2012" exhibition at Moorways Sports Centre around early May next year! Or of course, if you enjoyed the show, why not pop along to the club on a Tuesday or Friday night after 7:30pm to meet the members up close and see about maybe joining if you like!
